Twin County United Way and Lewiston High School partner to promote student volunteerism
First day of school activities for 260 Lewiston High Seniors will include volunteer service
LEWISTON – The Twin County United Way has partnered with Lewiston High School to get local students excited about volunteering. The Annual Twin County United Way Student Day of Caring provides an avenue for students to engage in brief, but meaningful volunteer service projects. And, new to this year, it will be incorporated with Lewiston High School’s first day of school activities for 260 Seniors.
From street clean-up and park beautification to providing volunteer service to a number of local nonprofits, the students will engage in a variety of activities. The Day of Caring is intended to inspire students to continue to volunteer throughout the year and into the future.
Lewiston High School principal, Kevin Driskill, said, “I feel our community provides incredible support to our school’s students, clubs and athletic programs. This is an opportunity for our students to give back to the community.” Students will have fun and experience the rewards of volunteering while learning about the important work of local nonprofits and how we can all make a difference where we live.
Student volunteers will gather at Vollmer Bowl at 9 a.m. to load busses and travel to more than 20 different volunteer locations, including the Twin County United Way office where several larger projects will take place. Each volunteer project is estimated to take approximately two hours. Students will then return to the high school for lunch and activities through the end of the school day.
Sponsors making this event possible include PEAK Performance Physical Therapy, Express Employment Professionals, Dutch Bros Lewiston and ArtBeat.
