United Way’s Annual Banquet Combined with Campaign Kick-Off

One year Community Fund Grants total more than $268,000

 

LEWISTON, Idaho – Twin County United Way celebrated the 2020 giving campaign, recognized volunteers and supporters, announced new officers, and confirmed 2021-2022 Community Fund grant recipients, along with kicking off the 2021 Campaign at its annual banquet on Wednesday, September 8, at the Lewis-Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Clarkston Event Center in Clarkston.

 

The annual event, presented by P1FCU, kicked off with the announcement of the Volunteer of the Year and Spirit of Caring awards. The Volunteer of the Year was presented to Robin Clark (P1FCU). P1FCU, Inland Cellular, and Art Beat were awarded the Spirit of Caring award, recognizing the businesses’ outstanding support for the Twin County United Way and care for the community.

 

The United Way also thanked and recognized Corporate Champions; businesses who help cover the administration costs of the United Way were recognized.

 

More than 1,400 donors contributed to the annual giving campaign. Donors can select specific nonprofit organizations to receive their donations or select the United Way Community Fund.  Donations contributed to the United Way’s Community Fund support education, income, and health. 35 grants totaling more than $268,000 will be dispersed through June 30, 2022, during the one-year grant cycle. Priority was given to local nonprofit programs working to promote grade-level reading by third grade, improve the financial stability of struggling households and reduce the local death by suicide rates.

 

Twin County United Way board member Debra Ausman (C & L Farms) was recognized for 10 years of board service while Scott Corbitt (Valley Vision) and Heather Weeks (Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories) were recognized for five years of service.  Additionally, Michael Gruben (Inland Cellular) was named Board Member of the Year and Doug LaMunyan (Clarkston High School) was named Rookie Board Member of the Year.

 

New officers were also announced, each will serve a two-year term that began July 1. Bert Sahlberg (Lewis-Clark State College) was elected as board president. Corbitt will now serve on the executive committee as past president while Cathy Jo Witters (Coleman Oil) will serve as Vice-President, Katie Deibel (Idaho Forest Group) as Secretary and Michelle Eberhardt (LCCU) as Treasurer.

 

The event wrapped up with kicking off the 2021 Campaign year.
