Twin County United Way Selects Sam Skinner as Executive Director

LEWISTON – Samantha (Sam) Skinner has been selected as the new Executive Director for the Twin County United Way (TCUW). In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, annual fundraising and leading community initiatives.

“We are excited to have Sam joining our team,” said Mike Berghammer, President of the TCUW Board of Directors, who made the announcement. “She is clearly passionate about the work we do and brings a professional skill set we were seeking. We feel her background in employee giving campaigns, volunteer engagement and work from the corporate side with nonprofit partners will prove valuable as we continue to strengthen our local relationships, increase our impact and grow our organization.”

Skinner has long-time ties to the Twin County United Way. She has participated in the past as a “Loaned Executive,” helping share the United Way mission and encourage local businesses and their employees to donate to the cause. For the past five years, she has also been a TCUW Day of Caring volunteer coordinator.

“The United WayÂ’s goal is to bring people together to provide solutions to issues in our community and facilitate change to advance the common good and improve lives. IÂ’m thrilled to join that effort,” said Skinner. “I look forward to working alongside an incredible, committed board and hard-working staff – all dedicated to making our community stronger.”

Skinner holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts from Lewis-Clark State College. She comes to the United Way from Cambia Health Solutions, the parent company to locally-headquartered Regence BlueShield of Idaho. She has worked at Cambia for more than a decade, most recently as the companyÂ’s community investment manager. While she held several positions within the organization, all positions had a focus on engaging employees in volunteering, internal and external communications and facilitating financial support for nonprofits in the local community and across the region.

Active in the local community, Skinner is an advisory member of St. Joseph Regional Medical CenterÂ’s Hospice Board, vice president of Snake River Juniors volleyball club, past board president of the Pink Ribbon Luncheon, and actively involved in supporting the Idaho Foodbank, Community Action Partnership, Northwest ChildrenÂ’s Home, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho and LCSC Alumni Association.

A 20-year LC Valley resident, Sam lives in Lewiston with her husband, Jeff, and their two children.

Skinner will begin next Monday, April 13. She replaces Layci Peer, who left the post in January to spend more time with her family. Peer remains involved with the organization as a volunteer.
