Twin County United Way and Clarkston High School Partner to Promote Volunteerism

First day of school activities for Clarkston High School Seniors will include volunteer service

CLARKSTON, WASH. –Twin County United Way and Clarkston High School (CHS) are teaming up to get students excited about volunteering.  Student Day of Caring provides an avenue for students to engage in brief volunteer service projects.  Incorporated with the first day of school activities for Senior students, more than 20 students have signed up to volunteer.

The Twin County United Way conducts annual Days of Caring to promote volunteerism with businesses and schools.  Student Days of Caring are intended introduce students to volunteering and encourage students to continue to volunteer throughout the year and into the future.

Clarkston High School principal, Doug LaMunyan, said, “It’s an opportunity to show our school and community pride. CHS supports our youth in becoming successful students and accountable citizens. We’re part of a larger community and capable of working together to make a difference where we live. It is impressive to me, and I think impressive to the students, to see the amount of work that can be accomplished in just a short period of time.”

Student volunteers will gather at Clarkston High School in the student parking lot at 8 a.m. and then bus to two volunteer locations, the Clarkston Boys & Girls Club and St. Vincent de Paul, with adult volunteer chaperones from Public Consulting Group and LC Crew. Volunteers will conduct Club-wide cleanup at the Boys & Girls Club in preparation for the upcoming school year and sort and clean donations at St. Vincent.
