Twin County United Way Announces 2015 Honorary Campaign Chairs

The McIntosh family to help United Way raise $900,000

LEWIS-CLARK VALLEY – The Twin County United Way is sponsoring the monthly Lewis Clark Chamber of Commerce lunch today, Sept. 9, to kick off its 2015 fall giving campaign.

The United Way is about people helping people and making a positive impact across the entire community.  The annual campaign does just that: coordinates a collective effort of many to do the most good for the LC Valley. Each year, through individual and corporate donations and workplace giving programs, the annual Twin County United Way campaign raises funds to support nonprofits and local programs that are working to make our community better.

“We fund programs that advance education, income and health, which we feel are the building blocks for a good quality of life,” said Twin County board president, Tim Barker.  “We’ve seen a steady increase in giving over the past several years,” said Barker. “Still, every year, the needs seem to be greater than the resources.  Each year, worthy programs – administered by worthy nonprofits – go un- or under-funded.” Last year, the campaign raised $771,896 and this year – to fund even more needs in the community – the goal has been set at $900,000.

To help achieve this goal, the Twin County United Way has recruited the support of the McIntosh family to serve as the 2015 Honorary Campaign Chairs.  Doug and Brenda McIntosh and Art and Michelle McIntosh are life-long area residents. The families are fourth generation farmers and jointly own Harvest Ridge Organics and Lindsay Creek Vineyards.Desk Card

The family is looking forward to doing what they can to bring awareness about the campaign and encourage others to join them in supporting the United Way. Art and Doug shared the United Way was something their father strongly believed in supporting.  Doug shared, “He’d say in a good year or a bad year, write a check to the United Way.”  Brenda added, “We’ve continued to support the United Way because they address such critical needs in our community. It’s a way to help make our communities healthier.  And, giving to the United Way ensures that our donation is going where it is needed the most.”

United Way executive director Samantha (Sam) Skinner shared today, “The McIntosh family, our board of directors, Corporate Champions, staff and supporters have helped set us up for a successful campaign. Now, we are relying on thousands of our neighbors, coworkers, businesses and friends to help us achieve our goal. It is about each of us doing what we can to make a difference and every gift is appreciated.”

Individuals and businesses interested in participating in the campaign are invited to contact the Twin County United Way office at (208) 743-6594 or via e-mail at [email protected].
